![]() Haru’s character revolves solely around Eun Dan Oh and thus doesn’t expand much beyond that. I believe it’s Ro Woon’s first main role and he does a nice job, although he admittedly doesn’t have a lot to work with. Ro Woon of SF9 plays Haru, an extra that Eun Dan Oh becomes involved with when she realizes that he can help her change her fate. Although there are a handful of main characters in this drama, Eun Dan Oh really shines and Kim Hye Yoon hard carries the series on her back to make it a wonderful drama that many will enjoy. Even though she’s in a pitiful condition, she’s a character you root for because she spends little time sniveling about her role in the story and takes action quickly to determine her own fate. ![]() Her role in Eun Dan Oh is nearly 180 degree turn from her previous role, and she does a wonderful job. Just a year prior to Extraordinary You, she was playing an arrogant and spoiled high-schooler in Sky Castle. Kim Hye Yoon is a well-respected actress in the Korean entertainment industry for good reason. It’s a lot like any other old-school shoujo you might run into, but the twist of following the background characters trying to change the plot really spices things up. Secrets is about a poor girl Yeo Joo Da, who recently transfers to Dan Oh’s school and captures the attention of cold-hearted Oh Nam Joo. The “main storyline” of the webtoon Eun Dan Oh lives in, Secrets, isn’t that interesting, a fact that Dan Oh comments on. The setting is vibrant and beautiful, reminiscent of the more fantasy-like and over-the-top romantic elements seen in older k-dramas. I watched the drama a few months after it aired and fell in love with it immediately. ![]() I was excited to hear that it was being adapted because the premise seemed interesting and decided to check out the webtoon first before the adaptation came out, but only a few chapters were translated. The other guy is Seo Joon (played by Hwang In Yeop), who we have yet to see more of.I actually found out about this drama when I was first looking at webtoons that were adapted into a drama. She gets involved with two boys – Soo Ho (played by Cha Eun Woo), who connects very well with her “ugly” self and sees her for her personality and interests rather than looks. ![]() Anyway, she used to be made fun of for her appearances but when she transfers school, she starts wearing make up and starts a new life. And by ugly, I mean like pimples and redness, which all of us have experienced at some point, right? If you didn’t, you’re unreal. True Beauty is about an ugly girl, Im Ju Kyung (played by Moon Ga Young) who wears makeup to cover up her real appearance. Cha Eun Woo’s character is pretty similar to his character in ID: Gangnam Beauty, which kind of has a similar kind of plot but is set in a college campus. She portrays the characters so well that it gets me emotionally invested as well. I do admit that the first two episodes were filled with kdrama tropes, but did get a chuckle out of me at times, so there you have it.īy the way, I am loving Moon Ga Young’s acting in this. I have my reservations because this is a high school drama, which means we may have to deal with shallow characters, bullying, cringey love plots, etc. I enjoyed the first two episodes but I didn’t love it as I thought I would. I haven’t read the webtoon so I’m going into this drama blind. True Beauty is such a highly anticipated drama that I’m a little scared that it might let me down.
